The Tribe Youth Group is young person led and we are proud to have Peer Leaders who are members of the group with our youngest being eight years old.
The Peer Leaders listen to the other members and work with the adult leaders to create a space where they feel safe, are listened to and can have fun and build their confidence and self-esteem through our activities.
Many of our young people want to stay on and become adult leaders once they reach 16 and we try to support as many of them to do this as possible, and have a full leadership development programme which they can access. This increases their confidence and self-esteem and provides an opportunity to contribute positively to their communities.
Through the programme we equip our young leaders to be community changers and fantastic role models for other young people. The programme helps the young people realise they can be a positive influence on their community and gain invaluable skills through volunteering, e.g. teamwork, leadership, decision making, work ethic, negotiation and communication skills. We encourage them to collect examples from their work as a young leader in their portfolio each week, which they can then take to college and job interviews.
If you or your child is interested in becoming a Peer Leader or volunteer at the Tribe Youth Group please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or speak to a leader.
